Lives In South Portland

I am an editorial, commercial and fine art photographer based in a shared studio space in Portland’s West End. I specialize in food photography, which has grown out of my interest in where our food comes from and its social, economic and environmental impact. I have done the photos for five cookbooks, most recently Real Maine Food published by Rizzoli. I shoot for The New York Times, and various other national and local publications and businesses. When not photographing I can often be found trail running with our adorable Lab mix, Peanut; on my bike or skis; wandering around the woods looking for edible mushrooms; cooking time-intensive meals that use too many pans; trying to control a small, but productive garden; or loitering around various Portland and South Portland coffee establishments with a double Americano (not too much water!) in hand.

Why did you choose Portland? My husband and I burned out on big city life in Washington, DC. Life was all about work and being stuck in traffic. Portland is a vibrant, but small city where less traditional/more creative careers are encouraged and is in close proximity to amazing outdoor activities, two things that are very important to us. Plus, people here are really nice!

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? Local Sprouts.

What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Sushi at Miyake.

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? The farmers' market and Scratch Baking Co.
