I bring the circus to town.
Job Performer, Instructor, Digital Media & Marketing / Circus Maine
Lives In Deering
My work is my pleasure! When I'm not performing with Circus Maine or coaching at Maine Circus Academy I'm reaching out to the local performing and visual arts community. Contemporary circus arts match physical superpower with comedy, movement quality and creative storytelling. Let's collaborate and keep blurring the lines between circus, dance, performance art, theater and beyond! Reach me at: Info@circusmaine.org
Why did you choose Portland? I chose Portland because I wanted to be a part of a community that had a strong sense of place as well as a contemporary tilt.
Who are Portlanders you admire and why? I admire the hardworking founders of Circus Maine: Kat Finck, Joshua Oliver and Cory Tabino. Circus hasn't always paid the bills. I've worked for some great people around town. Josh and Katie of Bread and Butter Catering know how to do food and how to treat their staff aka "rainbow squad".
What do you like to do with out-of-towners? I love to take out-of-towners up Route 1. I still can't believe how majestic Maine is.
Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? Dobra Tea is basically my office.
What's the most surprising thing about this city? My neighborhood throws the best block parties with live music on people's front porches.
What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? I love to indulge in self-care. My body takes a lot of abuse being flipped, stretched and suspended in every direction. I get bodywork from Macky Page (www.mackypage.com), and Yamuna Body Rolling lessons from Brenda Cyr of Willard Beach Studio (www.willardbeachstudio.com).
What's the most under-appreciated place or thing in town? The $5 breakfast sandwich. It's delicious and alive and well in Portland!
Describe your perfect night—and the following morning—in Portland. Perfect night: dancing, burlesque, drag or all three followed by homemade waffles with my love!
Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? I love Baxter Woods. It's always filled with dogs and in the winter it's a wonderland just a short walk away from my front door.
Life is a colorful palette, giving a creative sixth sense to looking at the world around us.
