Est. in 2007 'home' is a catering / private chef business focusing on comfort food with soul. I have catered everything from small private parties to events for upwards of 600 people. Our mission is to provide a unique, casual experience using locally grown and produced ingredients. High end food without pretension.
Why did you choose Portland? I was born here, however, I did move away and come back. I just love the slow paced lifestyle, as well as the range of activities and entertainment.
Who are Portlanders you admire and why? David Wolfe-amazing print maker, amazing guy. His willingness to share his knowledge is what makes him even more special.
What do you like to do with out-of-towners? I love taking drives to the coast around Cape and Scarborough. Also, taking people to one of the hundreds of great eateries in the area makes entertaining a breeze.
Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? The wild West End. I havent lived anywhere else in Portland. It would be like cheating on a girlfriend.
What's the most surprising thing about this city? The community. It could easily get "high school" but it doesn't. Everyone seems to support one another.
What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Snowstorm day drinking at Ruski's.
What's the most under-appreciated place or thing in town? I think the influx of diversity doesn't get enough credit for creating positive influence on the natives.
Describe your perfect night—and the following morning—in Portland. My perfect night would be with friends on a crisp fall evening. Drinks, dinner, drinks. Being able to walk pretty much anywhere is key. I think we take that for granted as well. The morning would include the same friends and probably Blue Spoon brunch.
Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Just take a walk...you're bound to shake a few hands.
