Lives In Portland

Erin Hutton is an art advisor, curator and founder of Erin Hutton Projects, LLC. For more than twenty years, she has immersed herself in the art world as an artist, educator, gallery director, curator, film production assistant, and designer.

Why did you choose Portland? I love Maine! Growing up in Vassalboro, Maine, our family visited Portland regularly. The opportunity to live in Portland was made possible for me by attending Maine College of Art.

Who are Portlanders you admire and why? I've been fortunate to live/work in Portland for over 25 years and meet so many incredible individuals and leaders, many of whom I consider my greatest supporters and mentors: Michelle Roberts, Jessica Tomlinson, Jim Brady, Ian Anderson, Honour Mack, Angela Adams, Jim Hauptman, and Matt Hutton - to name just a few.

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? We eat! We visit the beach! We see and make art! Portland is a perfect location to host family and friends.

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? I'm not sure I can travel anywhere without running into someone I've connected with from Portland. After investing in a community, you get to know so many people. I can trust that if I go to the grocery store, any gallery, museum or restaurant, I will reconnect with someone!
