Writer, China-US cultural instigator & budding Bodhisattva
Lives In The West End
Clare Morin is a writer who is physically based in Portland, and virtually based amid the vertical skyscrapers of Hong Kong. She spent a decade as a full-time arts writer for publications such as HK Magazine, the South China Morning Post, and as the founding arts editor of Time Out Hong Kong.
In 2009, Clare set sail for New England with her husband, the American drummer and sound engineer Tim Morin. She continues to be connected to the Asian media and cultural scene, collaborates with Fox Intercultural Consulting and works with writers and poets as a publicist. When she's not doing all that, Clare can be found stumbling her way down the path to enlightenment with the Serlingpa Meditation Center.
Why did you choose Portland? My husband (a Mainer) and I were en route to Brooklyn from Hong Kong, and somehow landed in Portland for the first winter. Never left.
Who are Portlanders you admire and why?
Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula?
What's the most surprising thing about this city?
What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it?
What's the most under-appreciated place or thing in town?
I teach strength, empowerment and self expression through movement with Dance, Buti and Yoga.
