Creative Portland is excited to announce our **Holiday Arts and Crafts Sale** in the gallery at 84 Free Street! We have invited several local artists into our space to showcase their incredible works available for purchase this holiday season. Take a short detour from Congress Street to stop by the Creative Portland gallery Friday, December 1 during the First Friday Art Walk. Meet the artists and take home some unique locally-made goods and artwork this gifting season!

**Judith Allen-Efstathiou**

Judith Allen-Efstathiou comes from a family of 5 generations of Maine female artists. A one- year fellowship from the Boston Museum led to a 3 decade stay in Athens, Greece, where she became a naturalized Greek citizen. She now divides her time between Portland, Maine and Greece. In Athens her work has been exhibited at the Benaki Museum in 2009, 2014, 2022 and 2023. Her 12 year long botanical drawing project, “Mapping the Walk” in support of historic preservation of an ancient Greek footpath, was published by Kapon Editions in 2022. Thirty-six of these drawings are in the permanent collection of the Gennadius Library of the American School of Classical Studies, Athens. The artist exhibits regularly in the US and abroad with works in numerous public and private collections. Most recently she exhibited at Cove Street Arts, Portland.

gender neutral hand sculpted jewelry inspired by my daily commute past a rag tag group of plain, ordinary birds that had returned every evening to roost, perched on the transmission wires stretched high above the freeway, eager to bask in the heat radiating from the sun baked asphalt below… a twilight oasis of warmth. conceived in los angeles, relocated to portland maine in 2023.

Each year, Chance to Advance partners with Catholic Charities Office of Maine Refugee Services to create the annual Celebrating Diversity in Maine Calendar. With these beautiful calendars, we hope to highlight countries represented in our state that are often forgotten.

Evan J. Connolly is a local maker and woodworker focused on making one of a kind wooden items for everyday use and display, including cutting boards, serving trays, and custom engraved wooden signs. He especially enjoys working with unique woods and drawing inspiration from their grain patterns, as well as making custom engraved gifts. 


**Justine Dutil**

Justine is a freelance graphic designer and artist specializing in captivating watercolor creations. She creates custom wedding invitation suites that blend her love for typography and watercolor illustrations. She has a deep appreciation for nature and a soft spot for mushrooms!

**Anne Hayes**

Anne Hayes is a mixed media artist and art educator living in Portland, ME. She recently started teaching elementary art in Bowdoin and Bowdoinham after a few years of teaching high school Art and French. Her work is inspired by the natural world, abstraction, and is extremely experimental. Anne is motivated by playing with materials and processes and takes much inspiration from her young students who find that same kind of joy in their work.

**Hannah Medovnikov**

Hannah Medovnikov is a potter and art educator living in Portland. Her work is inspired by reoccurring symbols representing luck, Maine, and memories that can feel universal to any viewer. Her illustrations aim to evoke a gentle nostalgia, allowing the audience to imprint their own experience onto these images. She hand builds and illustrates every piece freehand, allowing no two pieces to be the same.

Joyce Ellen Weinstein is a recent transplant to the Portland Maine area from NYC. Some fellowships include: Maine Arts Commission Grant, Vermont Studio Center, Mishkenot Sha’ananim, Israel; Social-Cultural Center, Prague; Blue Mountain Center, NY, Europos Parkas Museum, Lithuania: ChaNorthChashama, NY. She painted a mural in Prague after the Soviet fall.
Some collections include: National Museum of Women in the Arts, DC; HUC Bernard Heller Museum, NYC; FL Holocaust Museum; Gallerie-Junge KunstWerkStart, Vienna; Social-Cultural Center, Prague; Amnesty International; Einchen Americe, Princeton, NJ, Terezin Holocaust Museum, Czech Republic; Vilna Gaon Jewish State Museum, Lithuania; Derfner Judaica Museum NY; Arts and Military, DC. She is featured in such publications as the following among others.: Fixing the World: Jewish American Artists of the Twentieth Century, Ori B. Soltes, New England U. Press, The Book as Art, National Museum of Women in the Arts, and more. Some awards include: Fulbright Senior Specialiste: and Scenic Design in Dance. Member: Society of American Graphic Artists, Art Students League of NY, Contemporary Print Collective SC, Visual Arts Library, New London CN, Artist’s Equity. Education: MFA.

**Elena Zotova**

Elena Zotova is a visual artist residing in Southern Maine.  She has traveled widely; images and experiences from Japan, Scandinavia and Africa inform her work.  Formally trained as a painter at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, in recent years she has embraced hand weaving.  Elena’s technique focuses on a free-flowing, intuitive approach to the loom, blending a harmonious mix of colors with surprising shifts in pattern and texture. The garments are made in collaboration with Petit Jardine Studio from fabric woven by Elena.
