"Honeysuckle" Art Exhibition by Hope Drenning

Made up of an array of original oil paintings, honeysuckle looks at the visualization of the female spirit. Each piece is meant to act as an amulet. They all hold a personification or expression that is reflected through the color and form. Some bring forth the tenderness of love lost or an embrace. Others the flames of passion or loss. They are meant to be hung above doors and by windows, warding off evil and coaxing in blessings and love to your home. 

More about the Artist: 
Hope Drenning is a muralist and painter based in Portland, Maine. Her work is defined by conceptual approaches to religious literature and allegory. She uses a range of mediums and visual languages to explore these systems of divinity and reality. Oil, enamel, and latex paints all feed into Drennings work with narratives and abstract symbolism. The goal of her work is to cultivate a sense of wonder and curiosity beyond what we consciously see. She is an alumna of Maine College of Art & Design and was the previous Exhibitions Coordinator of Governor Wentworth Arts Council from 2021 till 2023. She has exhibited at Notch 8 here in Portland, Topo Gallery in Camden, and Buoy Gallery in Kittery.
