This course is for both beginners in printmaking and experienced printmakers who wish to explore safer, non-toxic, approaches to printing. Students will explore contemporary approaches for traditional techniques, including paper plate lithographs for monochrome and multi-color printing; dry point on foam board or plastic printing plates; and cyanotype printing using computer-generated or hand-drawn film. Students may also work with previously made plates to reprint or combine with newly made prints. Demonstrations of a variety of strategies for printing on paper and cloth will be presented with ongoing individual consultation and critiques. Students may explore a variety of techniques or focus on one or two areas of interest.
