The newest fixture on the local/community supported food scene opens it's doors on Friday. Local Sprouts Cafe and Bomb Diggity Bakery will have a grand opening party on June 4 from 5-11pm at 649 Congress St. Local Sprouts is a co-op along the lines of a CSA, but will also be open to the public and host art shows, performances and events. The Café will offer local, organic and seasonal dishes with lots of vegetarian choices. Bomb Diggity will feature classic bakery treats plus vegan, gluten-free and raw items, all made with local and organic ingredients. Local Sprouts and Bomb Diggity partner with schools and non-profits to offer "holistic learning programs through cooking local food for our community." And by at least one report, the brownies are delicious! So stop by during First Friday Art Walk and stay for the food and for performances by the Potato Pickers, Lady Zen, D. Gross, Jazz, Peter Hazen, Heidi Vierthaler and more.
