I write about Maine's beautiful spaces and talented makers.

Job Managing Editor / Maine Home+Design

Lives In Falmouth

I began writing about design and architecture 10 years ago at an architectural/engineering firm in New York City. From there, I went on to work as Associate Editor of an architectural lighting magazine before moving to Portland in 2008. I currently work as Managing Editor of Maine Home+Design magazine, a monthly shelter publication devoted to uncovering the state's exceptional architecture, art, and design. I've also done freelance work for Conde Nast Traveler, Metro New York, and Forbes Travel Guide.

Why did you choose Portland? My now-husband and I were living in New York City and looking for a change of lifestyle, one that included a close-knit community, creative culture, some breathing room, and the sea. We picked three different cities we thought might meet this criteria. Portland was our first stop--and our last. We moved here in 2008, on the first day of winter. A massive blizzard welcomed us and we've never looked back.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? The Eastern Prom will always be a special place for me. It's where we decided to move here. Nowhere else on the peninsula do you feel so surrounded by water, islands, possibility.

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? I can't walk into Bard without running into at least one person I know and admire. It's like a little creative hub, fueled by good coffee.
