Job Realtor / Ocean Gate Realty

Lives In West End

Some people have the gift of gab, but I have the gift of “ear.” My ability not just to listen but to hear what someone is actually saying is a gift I use for good. Originally from Tennessee, I moved to Portland in ’99, and earned my degree in communication from the University of Southern Maine while building a career working for successful small businesses in Greater Portland including hospitality, marketing and real estate. I am a problem solver, a cook, a gardener, an advocate, a proud community member and a skilled communicator.

Why did you choose Portland? I came to Portland in the summer of 1999, and in the cab from the bus station to my friend's apartment the driver told me that Portland is where angels come to mend their wings. It was a powerful statement, and entirely true. These wings were mended long ago, and Portland is home.

Who are Portlanders you admire and why? I admire chef Abby Harmon at Caiola's for taking simple dishes to greatness with new ingredients while infusing her excitement about food and inspiring her colleagues. Brenda Garrand, CEO and founder of Garrand Marketing, who has a unique gift to not only create bright blue skies filled with possibility but more importantly to inspire those around her to take flight into those skies to think BIG. Ed Gardner, owner of Ocean Gate Realty, for being a great guy dedicated to to the Portland community with both financial and emotional investment, and for being humble about it.

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? I love to feed out-of-towners! When prepping for meals at home, I treat Portland guests to shopping at Rosemont Market, Micucci's, Harbor Fish, Standard Baking and Aurora Provisions to gather favorite ingredients. Eating out is another favorite adventure and depending on tastes I love to visit friends at the Blue Spoon on the hill, grab oysters at Eventide, cocktails at Congress Bar, dinner at Caiola's, Pan Mei Miyake, Hot Suppa, or Boda, and a nightcap at Local 188. Of course, we can go see the lighthouses too.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? The West End is my happy place with its rippling, wide brick sidewalks and old growth trees.

What's the most surprising thing about this city? The population surprises a lot of folks. Portland offers so many fantastic opportunities that are often only found in larger metropolitan areas with the accessibility found in a small town.

What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Cookies at Aurora Provisions. There are so many to choose from, and they are all delicious.

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Latenight at Eventide.
