Matt Grondin

I use words to connect people and organizations.

Job Writer... Fundraiser... Etc. / United Way of Greater Portland

Lives In Cumberland

I write - mostly grants for United Way of Greater Portland, but have done so for the Maine Public Broadcasting Network and WGBH in Boston before that.  But I also write at FillTheSteins.com, a UMaine-themed blog.  I also write other things...  Social Media.  Reviews of food, arts, and cultural happenings. Letters to the editor?  Sometimes.

I like words.  Powerful connections are made or broken with/out them.

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? Take them to the Portland Flea-for-All. Ensure that they have fresh Maine craft beer and/or spirits. Other things, too, but those are most important.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? All in the running: Longfellow Books; Portland Hunt + Alpine; Hugo's/Eventide/The Honey Paw; Portland Public Library

What's the most surprising thing about this city? Maybe not so surprising, but... People work hard here. Whatever it is they do, whether it's their day job or a hobby, they work hard at it and take a lot of pride in it.

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? The intersection of Union/Temple and Middle/Spring Streets.
