Lives In Portland West End

I grew up in central Massachusetts and moved to Portland Maine to attend Maine College of Art in 2001. My work consists of drawings, installations, and happenings. I have exhibited at The June Futzpatrick Gallery, The Aucocisco, Ed Pollack a Fine Thing, ENGINE, SPACE Gallery (one of my favorites), and The Portland Museum of Art. I love Portland, Maine and work hard.

Why did you choose Portland? I chose Portland because I initially wanted to be by the ocean. I crave being near oceans. I also came here for college and realized that I found a community of amazing people in a beautiful city.

Who are Portlanders you admire and why? I admire so many people in Portland Maine amongst the gushing I do to them in person I feel that I am not the only one who admires these people. Edwige Charlot is one of the many!

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? What do I like to do to out of towners? I try as hard as I can to make them move here.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? My happy place on the peninsula is the eastern prom in the late spring.

What's the most surprising thing about this city? The most surprising thing about this city is the lack of creative public transportation eg trolleys, zip lines, tugboats, small balloon rides, pony carriages :)

What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? My favorite indulgence would be dinner at the Blue Spoon and maybe a new bottle of ink and a few sheets of paper. I've been dying to indulge on one of those boat cruises on the Frances.

What's the most under-appreciated place or thing in town? The most under-appreciated place in town is Ed Pollacks Gallery A Fine Thing. He has the most amazing collection of art work in town hands down! From Calder Prints, Ernst, Kent, a collection of prints and art that would make any museum swoon. I am always amazed at how many people miss this gem.

Describe your perfect night—and the following morning—in Portland. Best night in Portland: bowling?, music or a movie, maybe at Space? Then driving out to 158 bakehouse to grab a breakfast sandwich and hang out at two lights? Oh I don't know every night I fall asleep in Portland and wake up in Portland seems pretty perfect.

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Lots of places, Portland is pretty small. I'd say around congress street.
