Why did you choose Portland? Portland is fertile ground to build a design firm. It's a great creative community.

Who are Portlanders you admire and why? I admire the design professors I've met at MECA.

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? I like to bring them over to SPACE gallery, the running path on the East End, and the Portland Museum of Art.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? Our studio space on York Street. I love the energy of the space.

What's the most surprising thing about this city? The music scene is cool. I have been excited about the indie musicians who play a multitude of genres.

What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Tandoor. It is great Indian food, and it's like being in a Wes Anderson film every time.

What's the most under-appreciated place or thing in town? The community gardens perhaps. They are a bit secret unless you know where they are, but are a joy to walk through.

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? I always see good people at shows. Any venue -- there's someone great.
