August Greetings from Program Assistant Emily Southard

First Friday is rocking this month with concerts at Congress Square Park & Mayo Street Arts, an exhibit closing party at SPEEDWELL, and a 90s R&B dance at Empire, and for more throwback tunes, swing by Port City later this month for a Queen tribute. Feeling the back to school nostalgia? Stop by the Justice for Women Lecture Series at SPACE on the 7th, visit Victoria Mansion's fair on the 10th, or join MECA's painting symposium on the 15th. While it's still warm out, enjoy the Maine Outdoor Film Fest statewide, and catch the awards at OLS on the 28th. Looking for community fun? Find it at Deering Center during Porchfest on the 10th and at Mechanics Hall on the 23rd during Civic Design Fest. PSA's The Complete City wraps with an exhibit on the 27th, so submit your map ASAP. Witness 25 straight hours of local access talent during CTN’s annual telethon on the 22nd & 23rd. The Chamber rolls out Kegs & Issues on the 26th, and Bandaloop (dancers scaling the facades of The Westin & One City Center) closes out September on the 28th & 29th. Last but not least, check out our open calls for visual and performance artists!
