Check out our new Portland Arts District Web cam to find out! We've focused our camera from our offices in the heart of Portland's Arts District at the corner of Congress and High Streets. With the Portland Museum of Art on one side and Congress Square Park on the other, this is the epicenter of the popular First Friday Art Walk and hub of all things creative in Maine's largest city.
On the first Friday of every month, come rain, snow, sleet or shine, hundreds of visitors and residents flood the sidewalks while visiting museums, galleries, exhibits, shops, restaurants... you name it. And, there's plenty going on out in the street with artists and performers of all kinds.
Recent months have seen renewed activity in Congress Square where a community group of volunteers, Friends of Congress Square Park, have been raising money and putting in lots of hours to support a variety of programming for all ages and interests. Just a couple of years ago, the plaza would have been desolate concrete, but today has colorful seating, an artist bench installation, and food trucks, often accompanied by muscians and other events.
Our Web cam takes photos every 15 minutes, so stop by often to catch the latest activity. (Generously outfitted by IT consultants Yellahoose.)
