How do I become a participating venue?

A: Interested venues must meet the requirements below.

  1. You must be free and open to the public during the hours of at least 5-8pm on first Friday.

  2. There a must a VISUAL ART exhibition that rotates on a frequency of 4-8 weeks.

  3. Listings must be submitted 2-3 weeks in advance in order to be included.

Sign up for an account on LiveWorkPortland.org. Add your information on the right hand side. You will receive an automated email from the site.

Where can I find an Art Walk brochure?

A:  Every first Friday a printed Art Walk guide available in the friday edition of the Portland Daily Sun (our media partner).

I am an artist interested in selling my artwork on the street. How do I participate?

A:  Many artists use this event to set up tables on the street to sell their work.  If you are interested in having a table you will not be required to sign up with us or pay a fee. However, you will need to adhere to the City's rules and regulations. I am a performer interested in performing on the street. How do I participate?

A: In accordance with City Code Sec. 19-23, performance art is also protected by the First Amendment. Street performers are not registered with Creative Portland, but should follow the regulations issued by the City of Portland.

I am food vendor interested in setting up on the street. How do I participate?

A: If you wish to sell food during Art Walk, you will need to get a permit from the City of Portland. Start by contacting Ted Musgrave (Special Activities Coordinator) at the City of Portland: 207 756-8275 or at tvm@portlandmaine.gov.

I used to have an account with on the First Friday art walk site. How do I reactivate my account?

A: Click login in at the top of the home page. Once on the account management page, fill out the information requested on the LEFT hand side. You should receive an automated reply with a ‘reset password link.'

I need to set up a new account as a participating venue.

A: Click login in at the top of the home page. Once on the account management page, fill out the information requested on the RIGHT hand side. You should receive an automated reply with a ‘reset password link.'

A: Please email us at info(at)creativeportland.com for more information. Artwork submission should be made before the listings deadline (2 weeks prior to the upcoming Art Walk).
